Tales From the City

Dedicated to the one she loves: Randolph, Mass.

A kindergartner waves the flag for her hometown.

Some years ago my kindergartner came home and proudly proclaimed that he had learned a new song in school called the “Randolph Flag Song.” I was unaware such a song existed or that we even had a town flag. But without much coaxing he began to sing it for me: “You’re a Randolph Flag / You’re a high flying flag / And forever in peace may you wave / You’re the emblem of / The land I love / The home of the free and the brave.”
