HIS PERFECT SATURDAY Go out for breakfast, watch sports, dinner and drinks with friends

HIS INTERESTS Sports, my favorite being hockey. Also, I love children and going to different restaurants, trying different foods.

7 P.M. MAGGIANO’S, BACK BAY

> THE WARM-UP

AMANDA I was fine until I got about a block away from the restaurant. Then I started to feel nervous.

ROSS I am the type of person where I can’t be late and I can’t stand when others are, either, so I got in town about 6:35 p.m. for a 7 p.m. reservation. I didn’t want to be the toolbag sitting in the restaurant that early, so I took a walk around and strolled in at precisely 6:55.

AMANDA I thought he was cute. He has a Ryan Gosling look about him and a nice smile. He didn’t seem nervous to me until I noticed his broken stirrer.

> FACING OFF

ROSS I was pleasantly surprised. We talked up a storm during the date, and the time flew by.

AMANDA We realized that we actually have a lot in common. We both love the Bruins and Thai food, and we talked about our families and friends.

ROSS When I told her I grew up playing hockey and was a big sports fan, she immediately said that she loooves the Bruins and went to two playoff games the year they won the cup. That is when I said “I love you.” I am an all-around Boston sports fan, but the Bruins are my heart and soul.

> OVERTIME

ROSS I was pretty much comfortable from start to finish with Amanda. She was outgoing, thoughtful, intelligent, and not afraid to speak her mind. An outsider would never have thought this was a first, blind date.

AMANDA We seemed to hit it off. After dinner we both decided to grab a drink. I was enjoying getting to know him and wasn’t ready to call it a night.

ROSS Neither of us wanted the night to end. We took a walk through the Public Garden and got a drink at the Beantown Pub. When we got there, there were two seats waiting for us at the bar. We took them, had a few more glasses of beer, and continued the convo and laughs. We closed the place down.

AMANDA It was getting late and we decided to go home. He helped me hail a cab and we hugged goodbye.

> SECOND DATE?

ROSS I’m sure we will go out again. We exchanged numbers and e-mails, and we’ve been texting each other ever since.

AMANDA If he asked me out again, I would say yes.
