A Restaurant’s Take

Meze at Area Four

In Kendall Square, a spread of “spreads.”

John Tlumacki/Globe Staff

The three “spreads,” as Area Four so humbly calls these fabulous meze, are packed with flavor. Hummus tastes of chickpeas and cumin, the beet-horseradish dip has zing, and the cucumbers in the tzatziki don’t get lost — you can see and taste them in the yogurt. It seems like there’s going to be enough to share with the table, but then you want one more bite of everything, and another, and then there’s nothing left.
