WHY HE’S A CATCH I’m active, including running, biking, and skiing. I also currently rock a handlebar mustache.

> SECRET ’STACHE

JEREMY I got to dinner about 15 minutes early, which allowed enough time for me to wax my mustache. I shaved my face [earlier] so that my mustache was more pronounced.

JENNA The first thing I noticed was his handlebar mustache! I wasn’t sure if it was fake or not.

JEREMY A cute smile broke the ice, so the first minutes weren’t difficult to chat through.

JENNA He seemed pretty cool, calm, and collected. I got more comfortable after we started joking about his mustache.

> WAX ON

JEREMY We talked about exercising, nutrition, beer, favorite foods, and current jobs. I discovered that she [used to live] in the city near where I once lived myself.

JENNA We have some mutual acquaintances. We are both interested in books, random trivia, traveling, and outdoor stuff.

JEREMY She enjoyed my stories and random facts and history about beer. I also liked that she was a reader, which is something I found out later in the night.

JENNA I learned that his mustache helped him out of a speeding ticket, and he came in second place in a mustache contest!

JEREMY The date got better and better as the night went on.

JENNA The conversation felt pretty natural and he made me laugh, which makes people more attractive for me.

> A CLOSE SHAVE

JENNA We actually closed down the restaurant.

JEREMY I thought the restaurant seemed a bit stuffy for jovial conversation, and I wanted a proper beer, which the menu was lacking.

JENNA I was on board with the idea because we were having fun, so we went to a nearby Bickford’s.

JEREMY We headed for our cars around 11:30.

JENNA We hugged goodbye and exchanged numbers.

JEREMY I think a kiss would have been presumptuous. We were both at a hug.

> POST MORTEM

JENNA A-

JEREMY B+. There’s always the first-date jitters. I think a second date would be better still.

> A SECOND DATE?

JENNA Maybe! We definitely had a connection — not sure if it was a romantic one, but the date was fun.

JEREMY I’m not sure there were sparks, but I think there was flickering. We exchanged numbers [and] I think we’ll go on another date.
