INTERESTS I have been working on a social media start-up, and I studied abroad in South Africa.

HE’S HAPPIEST When I am trying something cool and unique and meeting new people.

> LIFTOFF

MIKI As I walked from North Station, I rid my mind of all thoughts. I didn’t want to have my expectations so high that they’d be ruined.

DEVIN I was excited by the opportunity to meet someone new.

MIKI I was about 10 minutes — and fashionably — late. He was on time, like a gentleman should be. He was the only single person present and a huge smile erupted on his face when he saw me.

DEVIN She was in a silky purple dress. Miki was definitely dressed to impress.

> CIAO TIME

DEVIN The waiter asked whether either of us understood Italian. To my surprise, Miki responded to him in Italian. That was pretty cool and from that, I learned that Miki studied abroad in Italy. I was able to relate in that I had studied abroad in Cape Town.

MIKI He studied abroad in South Africa two years ago, right after the FIFA World Cup. He bungee-jumped off of the highest bridge in the world. He was a computer science major, which is interesting to me because I work in the information technology field.

DEVIN She seemed engaged and interested . . . and I was interested in her stories.

> GOING THE DISTANCE

MIKI He was a gentleman the whole time. He kept asking me if I was enjoying myself, and of course I was. There was a sizzle and burn every time we tried to one-up each other with our accomplishments and name-dropping.

DEVIN Miki seemed fine with grabbing a drink after dinner, and we continued to talk as we walked over to the bar.

MIKI I’m glad he asked, because I didn’t want to end the night just yet. I enjoyed talking to him. Devin is very amicable and chatted with strangers in the bar. After we left, we both took the Green Line.

DEVIN We exchanged numbers. When it was Miki’s stop, I gave her a hug and a kiss on the cheek.

> SECOND DATE?

MIKI It was great, despite him wanting to set me up with a friend. That’s not something you say in the middle of the date. I was like, “Damn, he has dismissed any and all possibilities of liking me already!”

DEVIN It was definitely a solid date, and I had a good time. If we meet up again, it will probably be with friends.
