AT THE AGE OF 66, I decided to join Facebook. Though I realize this social network is primarily used by younger people, I thought I could reconnect with old friends. Now that a year has passed, I can say I am both intrigued and miffed by this social phenomenon.
I have yet to master or even understand the nuances of Facebook. For example, why do I get messages from people I don’t know who are doing things I’ve never heard of, such as kite-boarding?

Good heavens, as Miss Manners would say. I joined FB at 76 and love it. I keep up with family in the Boston area and California--I am in Kentucky. I have made new local friends through it and keep contact with artists I used to show in my gallery and colleagues from my old universities in the UK and here. Do you have an Open FB or do you restrict it? I would no more open my FB page to the whole world than I would leave my door unlocked. Good luck.
