On Mount Washington, a peak experience

This September 11, a group of veterans and friends climbed New Hampshire’s highest peak to celebrate the ‘warrior spirit.’

Dear Chris and readers:  Having done this hike, the trekkers arrive at the top where there are cars, pets on leashes, tourists in the wrong clothing and complaining kids.  I wonder if the experience we feel having 'earned' the mountain is somewhat similar to what our veterans feel, having returned from war and military operations to the rest of us going about our minor daily lives.

Next year you should do a piece on 'Flags on the 48' .. A volunteer based operation where folks carry up and fly flags on top of each of NH's AMC 48 4000-footers .. Complete with Black Hawk fly over .. Very cool experience .. Been on summits/helped carry up equipment each of the last three years
