On a recent beautiful fall day, my 3-year-old granddaughter and I decided to go scouting for pumpkins. We spotted quite a few in the neighborhood, along with fall flowers. I said to her, “Alexis, the yellow flowers are called mums.’’ Without missing a beat, she replied, “And the orange ones are called dads.’’
