SO MANY TO-DIE-FOR OUTDOOR WEDDINGS come across my desk — the kind that beg you to kick up your heels, toss back a glass of vino, and celebrate with the ones you love — but this one stands out. And although plein-air weddings are mostly mild-climate affairs, I do see brides who throw caution to the wind in all parts of the country — with a beautiful plan B, of course. After all, there is something so unbelievably romantic about dancing the night away under the stars. Add a strand or two of pretty twinkle lights, a deliciously unfussy menu, and a bride and groom who are glowing from the inside out, and you have a recipe for alfresco fabulous.
Kimberly Hamill is a details girl, someone who values the little moments that make a wedding truly spectacular. So when she and Dean Matus set out to design their own nuptials in Westerly, Rhode Island, it was those very details that would take center stage. From programs filled with advice from grandparents, nieces, and nephews to the antique windows that were used to hold table assignment cards, everything was thoughtfully executed. The sweet, almost feminine styling, paired with the tactile, organic touches — like a too-cute-for-words burlap banner and farm tables adorned with peonies and roses — was every wedding lover’s dream come true.
