Globe Magazine readers respond to an article on school lunches and to Dave Barry’s take on 2012


I was so excited to read Louisa Kasdon and Jody Adams’s article about “redoing’’ the school lunch program in Boston (Perspective, January 6). As a certified health coach and a mom of two young boys, I strongly believe that the food we feed our children makes a difference in every aspect of their lives. It is the fuel that allows them to grow, learn, exercise, and succeed physically and emotionally. Brookline, our school district, has made amazing strides to improve the school lunch program. But, surprisingly, they have met much resistance from students and parents alike. As parents, we need to teach our children the value and pure deliciousness of fresh, unprocessed foods. What we really need is to make healthy options as plentiful and accessible as their processed counterparts. I want to be part of the solution.
