What do you need to build the perfect snowman? Packable snow and branches for arms. Coal for eyes may be hard to come by these days, but you’ll find a carrot for a nose if you fish around in the bottom drawer of the fridge. And don’t forget a scarf or a cap to lend the right jaunty air. These Boston-area snowmen — intrepid, ephemeral veterans of our recent blizzard and other storms — were constructed with just such materials. And building the perfect snowmen required something else, too: children with imagination — or at least grown-ups who haven’t forgotten what it was like to be kids.— Ted Sutton
