DAN I didn’t have a lot of time between work and date, so I just freshened up and changed.

RHIAN I was running late before the date, so I didn’t have much time to get ready.

DAN I was pretty early.

RHIAN I was about 15 minutes late because I stopped at the wrong [restaurant]. Turns out there’s also one in Chestnut Hill.

DAN I arrived and was seated immediately at a nice table by the window.

RHIAN He had a glass of wine and was sitting down. I apologized for being late.

DAN She is a pretty girl — elegant and well dressed.

RHIAN I thought he looked friendly. He had a very welcoming smile.

DAN We talked about a variety of subjects ranging from our past to our family.

RHIAN We talked about the extensive menu and our strategies for ordering, his job, family, sports. I learned that we had a lot in common. We enjoyed travel, we’re close with our families, and we work in finance.

DAN I thought she was a really interesting person.

RHIAN I liked that he was adventurous and willing to try new things. We were both laid-back and chatty.

DAN She was very pleasant to talk to and I feel like the conversation went smoothly the whole time.

RHIAN I felt comfortable right away and more comfortable as the evening progressed.

DAN To be honest, I didn’t really feel an attraction the whole time. The dinner went smoothly and we had fun, but there wasn’t any chemistry. I think both of us were feeling the same.

RHIAN We had an instant connection as friends. There didn’t seem to be any major sparks romantically.

DAN I wanted to leave toward the end, not because of her, but more because I was exhausted from work.

RHIAN I enjoyed the entire dinner.

DAN I think we were both tired by the end.

RHIAN We both discussed being early risers and early to bed.

DAN We just wrapped it up, thanked each other for a nice evening.

RHIAN It was friendly. We hugged goodbye.

RHIAN I do not think we will. He seems like someone I could be great friends with.
