> THE SETUP

DAVID I got home from work, went for a bike ride, got ready, and left.

MOLLY I went to the gym before work to clear my head, and after I went home to shower and change.

DAVID I just kept busy leading up to [the date].

MOLLY If nothing else, this was a new and fun experience.

DAVID I was a bit early. She was right on time.

MOLLY He was good-looking and had a great smile.

DAVID She was clearly a stylish person.

MOLLY He seemed pretty calm from what I could tell, which made it much easier to feel comfortable.

DAVID We quickly started into conversation.

> THE DELIVERY

MOLLY We talked about the basics — nothing too heavy, but enough to get an idea of who we are.

DAVID Where we lived and where we were from. Our server was friendly and helped cut any awkward tension.

MOLLY I ordered spinach ravioli, which was delicious.

DAVID We split the zucchini goat cheese appetizer, and I had the Bolognese entree. Both were excellent.

MOLLY The restaurant was a great choice.

DAVID We addressed the elephant in the room that was Dinner With Cupid early on and kept joking about how we’d rate each other.

MOLLY I felt from the beginning that our personalities were similar.

DAVID I’d never been on a blind date and assumed it would be awkward. It was nice to find out otherwise.

MOLLY I could sense that we would get along well.

DAVID She had a good sense of humor.

MOLLY We liked a lot of the same music and sports.

DAVID We weren’t polar opposites, but we did seem to have different day-to-day interests.

MOLLY We also both like to travel and are close with family.

DAVID There were no real deal breakers — boring, I know.

MOLLY We were out for a few hours and had to be up early, so we called it a night.

DAVID We pretty much shut the place down. We were ready to get home.

> THE RECEPTION

MOLLY I enjoyed myself.

DAVID We developed a nice friendship, but it didn’t feel more than that.

MOLLY We walked to the parking lot and coincidentally found we’d parked next to each other.

DAVID We hugged, exchanged numbers, and said good night — cordial and quick.

MOLLY It was nice and there was no pressure.

> SECOND DATE?

MOLLY I would be up for it.

DAVID We had fun, but I don’t think we were compatible in a romantic way.
