I stay active. I like to (attempt to) cook. I stopped caring how ridiculously I dance. Moms and dogs love me.

WHO PLAYS YOU IN THE MOVIE OF YOUR LIFE?

    I do. Or Ryan Gosling — [he’s] box-office bait.

    7:30 P.M. ALFREDO’S RESTAURANT, QUINCY

    EARLY BIRD

JEN To prepare for the date, I called in my big guns. I asked my friend to come and make me look gorgeous. I was nervous, but not as nervous as I thought I was going to be.

TRAVIS I had a busy day, so if anything, that was prep. I’m much better not overthinking something and just doing it.

JEN He was actually super early! Because he had come right from work and used public transportation he was there about 45 minutes early. I, on the other hand, just made it on time.

TRAVIS I said to the host I was there for the reservation under “Jenifer Travis.” He asked which one I was. So bizarre.

JEN The nice guy behind the host station said, “You must be Jenifer.” He walked me to the table.

    TICK TICK TICK . . .

JEN My first impression was relief. He was a normal, cute guy.

TRAVIS She definitely had her hair and makeup done. I’m not a big fan of the overly made-up face thing.

JEN He was dressed nice and had a beard, which I tend to like.

TRAVIS She seemed distracted. [She] left [her] phone on the table, so maybe [she was] looking for distraction? [Her] eyes darted around a lot.

JEN He went for a handshake, but I told him, “Let’s hug.”

TRAVIS The waitress brought waters. That was it for drinks.

JEN I didn’t get that “Oh man, I need a drink” feeling.

TRAVIS I didn’t open up much, just didn’t get that comfortable.

JEN The food was really good and the waitress was nice.

TRAVIS What stood out was how mediocre [the food] was.

    CLOCKING OFF

JEN He was easy to talk to.

TRAVIS We had nothing in common.

JEN I think we have the same type of humor.

TRAVIS She said she wasn’t a cheesecake person! What is that??

JEN We had some things in common. I think it made him more attractive.

TRAVIS We found out that we both like frozen yogurt.

JEN I don’t know if there were sparks, I think those would come on a second date.

TRAVIS There weren’t even sparks between me and the lamb. I didn’t feel an opportunity to be funny or have fun.

JEN We said the whole it-was-nice-to-meet-you thing, hugged, and left.

    SECOND DATE?

    JEN Probably not

    TRAVIS Negatory
