India in Andover

The India Association of Greater Boston, which canceled its flagship event scheduled for August at the Hatch Shell because of increased security costs, has found a new home for India Day. The Collins Center at Andover High School will host the event today from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Come enjoy music and dance performances — from classical and folk to Bollywood style — plus Indian food

The first (and free) Greater Boston Theatre Expo at Boston’s Cyclorama offers a chance to survey what’s on stage this season and plan your entertainment budget wisely. More than 50 Boston-area theater companies, large and small, new and old, will promote their upcoming shows, some with special ticket offers. 617-720-6066;


Gamer haven

See and sample the mind-bending amusements that local game makers have been concocting lately at the second annual Boston Festival of Indie Games at MIT from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Video, tabletop, and live-action role-playing games will all be featured; attendees can also watch films and presentations, browse a digital art exhibition, and more.

Late summer mix


As summer preparesto slide out of town, Mix 104.1 offers a chance to take in live outdoor music at the free MixFest 2013 at the Hatch Shell. Gavin DeGraw, Backstreet Boys, and Of Monsters and Men will perform; the show starts at 4 p.m. Before you go, consult for rules on what you’re allowed to bring.
