Andrew Fatato, owner of Boston-based FLASK & FUNNEL custom cocktails and bartending service (617-855-9023, flaskandfunnel.com), thinks this sophisticated drink is just right for a wedding in town.
11/2 ounces gin
1/2 ounce Lillet Blanc
1/2 ounce grapefruit oil syrup (see recipe)
1/2 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
2 dashes citrus bitters
Shake all ingredients with ice, strain, and serve.
GRAPEFRUIT OIL SYRUP
Place the peel of one grapefruit into a pot and add 2 cups of water. Cover pot, bring to a boil, remove from heat, and cool until steaming stops. Strain out peel and add 2 cups of sugar.
Stir until sugar dissolves. Syrup will keep, refrigerated, for 3 to 4 weeks. Makes enough for 40 drinks.
