A Restaurant’s Take

Cutty’s Spuckie sandwich

In Brookline, a muffuletta-inspired masterpiece.

Adam Ried

Boston old-timers, particularly from Italian neighborhoods, may refer to subs or grinders as “spuckies.” That’s what the Brookline sandwich shop Cutty’s calls its muffuletta-inspired sandwich combining mortadella, finocchiona, hot capicola, fresh mozzarella, and briny-sweet olive and carrot salad. There’s also a vegetarian version with roasted eggplant standing in for the meats.
