    Music, art supplies, a friend

    > LAUGHS WITH A PAL

TYLER Before the date, I spent some time in front of the mirror. I pick out clothes for a living, but when it comes to my own closet, sometimes I feel lost.

BRYAN I have a playlist on Spotify I call “Getting Ready” [that] includes all of the music you want to hear when you’re getting ready for something important, [like] Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody.”

TYLER I was excited, a little anxious, and very hungry.

BRYAN When I got to the restaurant, I actually slowly biked around the corner to see if I could spot my date before he spotted me.

TYLER When Bryan rolled up, I realized he was my blind date. I already knew him — we are friends and even run in the same gay running club together.

BRYAN I started to laugh uncontrollably.

TYLER Bryan is great company, and we have plenty to talk about.

BRYAN No stone was unturned in the conversation . . . we just jumped right in.

TYLER We talked about the beautiful weather, running, and how many times we were planning on hitting up P-town this summer.

BRYAN Tyler and I both share an attitude where we like to think about our wants and desires in life and not being confined to the “should.” We both march to our own drumbeats.

TYLER Bryan is laid-back, and the vibe was casual. We laughed and talked with our hands — all signs of a good date.

BRYAN If there’s one thing about Tyler that sticks out the most, it is that he has an incredibly warm, inviting, and fun countenance. His humor is rapid, witty, and infectious. He invites all sorts of questions, but also shares so much.

TYLER I could tell we were enjoying each other’s company.

    > MORE THAN FRIENDS?

BRYAN The date ended with [our realizing] that we had both ridden our bikes to the date. We locked them up on different poles, but had both shared a similar strategy of arriving at the date and doing a drive-by.

TYLER What a wonderful surprise to be set up with a friend who is both intelligent and handsome. We hugged goodbye.

BRYAN We said goodbye as two great friends would. I knew for sure I would see Tyler again very soon.

    > SECOND DATE?

TYLER My romantic future with Bryan is unclear, but I will certainly be seeing more of this guy.

BRYAN I would say that Tyler and I have been in a long-term friend-marriage for the last 18 months. I expect this to continue indefinitely.
