Blind date: A clean slate

These two singles like things neat and tidy. Will their first date be a mess?

HER PERFECT DATE

I love good food and wine, so a comfortable, nice restaurant with a great conversation would be ideal.

JASON PRZYBYLEK

31 / Engineering project Manager

WHO WOULD PLAY HIM IN A MOVIE

Jason Statham. We share the same name, he’s ripped, and he generally plays characters who are cool as hell.

7:30 P.M. THE CITIZEN, WORCESTER

> DUSTING OFF THE COBWEBS

JASON I didn’t do anything special to get ready for the date — I worked, went to the gym, quick shower, and out the door.

ERIN I had a glass of wine to relax a little. I was rushed because I worked late and had to run home first to get ready.

JASON I got there right on time and she was about a minute after me.

ERIN I was a few minutes late because I had to find parking. Jason had just gotten there.

> IRONING OUT THE DETAILS

ERIN I thought he was attractive. He has a nice smile. He wasn’t what I had pictured.

JASON I thought she was pretty, well dressed (she has a good sense of style and looked comfortable), and tall.

ERIN The conversation flowed pretty easily. I was nervous at first but calmed down pretty quickly. He didn’t seem nervous at all. Actually, he was probably overly confident.

JASON She said she was a little nervous, but it was tough to pick up on it since we’ve never met before. It didn’t seem to be any issue, as our conversation was flowing easily.

ERIN We talked about why we ended up doing this. He did this because someone at work found it and nudged him to sign up. He didn’t take it seriously. It was kind of a joke to him, which changed my feeling about the date, honestly.

JASON We talked about a lot of things; I learned that she likes white wine (particularly chardonnay). She has career ambitions and a lot of motivation to succeed.

ERIN He is into golfing, sailing, and working out. I love golfing. We had that in common.

> . . . AND THE MOP-UP

JASON She gave me a hug when she arrived, and when our night ended we hugged again.

ERIN As the night went on, I found myself wanting to go on a second date less and less.

JASON While I wouldn’t [say there were] sparks, it was comfortable for me.

ERIN He had a tendency to talk about himself a lot. He was very cocky.

JASON We didn’t do anything after our dinner date; she had to wake up early for a yoga class.

ERIN He wanted to head out to a dessert place, but I had an early class [the next day] and just wasn’t interested in continuing the date.

> SECOND DATE?

JASON I would like to see her again, whether it’s a date or just going out as friends.

ERIN I don’t think so.
