Olive oil cake trifle

An old family recipe gets a new life at Alden & Harlow in Harvard Square.

Michael Scelfo, the chef and owner of Alden & Harlow in Harvard Square, uses olive oil cake, made from his family recipe, in a trifle. He cuts the cake into cubes and adds stone fruit, toasted hazelnuts, a simple honey syrup, cardamom, and, of course, whipped cream.
