> PREP WORK

Jacob: I signed up because it was a great way to meet new people.

Kayla: I thought it would be a fun opportunity to meet someone and potentially have a connection.

Jacob: I wasn’t nervous until a few minutes before, and it was really bad.

Kayla: I went shopping to calm my nerves and picked out an outfit that would work for any level of restaurant fanciness.

Jacob: I arrived and had a cocktail to start my night. I wasn’t sure if Kayla drank and wanted to curve the edge a bit. I sat at the bar and talked with the bartender.

Kayla: I arrived exactly on time.

Jacob: I was worried I wouldn’t find an attraction to my date, but I was even more nervous when we first met. She was breathtaking. Kayla is very beautiful.

Kayla: He was cute. He was wearing stylish clothes and had an effortless look to him.

> MADE TO ORDER

Jacob: Before drinks we talked about the basics. Kayla had played many sports and was very active. We talked about her background in education, which was really very noble. We covered everything from our siblings to embarrassing college stories.

Kayla: I discovered he is passionate about the hospitality and tourism industry, loves movies, and is not a morning person whatsoever.

Jacob: We started with raw oysters. It was my first time having them, but Kayla assured me they were awesome. Then we had cheesecake for dessert.

Kayla: They put us in a back room overlooking a lit-up garden. We ordered a bottle of champagne. We ordered raw oysters because he never had them before.

Jacob: Kayla only became more charming and attractive as the night continued. It really became hard to look at her eyes and not blush and turn away. I was more flustered by her than I would have preferred.

Kayla: There was never a point where I felt like get me out of here!

> SWEET ENDINGS

Jacob: I [was] reluctant to go after dinner. I found myself wanting to sit longer and just enjoy Kayla’s company.

Kayla: He mentioned to me I could come to a bar where he was going to meet his buddy, but I had work in the morning.

Jacob: We finished off the bottle of champagne and our conversation.

Kayla: The date ended with him asking for my number. He had me write it down on a piece of paper, which felt very old school. We discussed possibly going out again.

Jacob: I gave her a hug as I said goodbye. A kiss on the first date seems presumptuous.

Kayla: We got up and gave each other a hug. I told him I was going to wait for my ride and he went to meet his friend.

> SECOND DATE?

Jacob: I certainly hope so, but I wouldn’t want to assume too much.

Kayla: I would go on another date.

> POST-MORTEM

Jacob: A+

Kayla: B+
