Northeastern putting down stakes across the country

First satellite program opening today in N.C.

Northeastern University is expected today to open a regional campus in Charlotte, N.C., and plans to start a similar program in Seattle within the next year with hopes of eventually planting flags in Austin, Minneapolis, the San Francisco Bay area, and beyond. The programs will offer interdisciplinary master’s degrees tailored to the workforce needs of local economies and will be taught partly online and partly by Northeastern faculty flown in every few weeks. The plan comes at a time when many other colleges are retrenching.
