Arrests raise concern on gay profiling

Advocates confer with Patrick aides

State Police arrested 31 men at Macdonald Park in Medford this past summer, most of them for trespassing, reviving fears in the gay community that the police are once again using minor violations to target gay men. The arrests prompted gay rights advocates to meet recently with high-ranking public safety officials in Governor Deval Patrick’s administration to raise their concerns. State Police officials say they are not targeting any one group, only seeking to protect the park.
