Governor Deval Patrick plans to appoint the chairman of the powerful new gaming commission at noon today. The appointment will likely be one of the most important of his term. The five member commission will decide many crucial regulations around the state’s new casino industry and just as significantly will decide which developers get licenses to participate in the multi-billion dollar industry. Patrick’s choice does not need to be confirmed by the Legislature or the Governor’s Council.
