There are dumb ideas and there are really dumb ideas. This one would qualify for the latter. If you want a sprinkler system in your house, install one.
Last evening on the Fox Network, consumer affairs reporter, John Stossel, demonstrated what was required if he wanted to open an outdoor lemonade stand in Manhattan. One of umpteen regulations included that the stand have a fire extinguisher ! As Stossel explained, it is not surprising that there is low employment when businesses have to jump through so many costly hoops to start a project. No doubt a law requiring sprinkler systems in new homes would be a boon for the firefighters union and justify increased personnel for inspections, etc. and larger budgets. America needs jobs, not more regulations prumolgated by special interests.
