The Boston Bruins Foundation and the Garden Neighborhood Charities donated $15,000 to the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle campaign yesterday, following reports that donations to the annual campaign were down 22 percent this year. The Salvation Army hopes to double the amount through a challenge grant announced earlier. United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley also donated $30,000 to the Salvation Army this week. Through the donations, the Salvation Army expects to continue providing families with meals, coats, and toys to children this winter season. The Salvation Army’s Massachusetts division has 44 centers across the state.
