Natick says no to downtown drug addiction treatment office

Zoning Board cites old variance; others fear crime

Natick officials have refused permission to open a medical practice that would provide treatment for drug addiction, citing noncompliance with a 60-year-old building variance for the downtown Natick property. The variance grants permission for the first floor of the building - located at 14 West Central St. - to be used as professional offices with a waiting room. Experience Wellness Centers, which currently has offices open in Pittsfield, Worcester and Springfield, has 30 days to appear before the town’s Zoning Board of Appeals.
