First Night Boston begins at 1 p.m. Saturday and everyone is scrambling to beat the clock as it counts down to start time. Sculptors are hurriedly transforming massive blocks of ice into works of art. Stilt walkers are fine-tuning routines. Musicians are perfecting timing. And the behind-the-scenes crew is trouble-shooting the logistical details that go-unnoticed by revelers but make First Night…well, First Night. This is the 36th installment of the event, which expects one million partygoers.
