Officer dies in fall while trimming trees

An off-duty police officer fell to his death yesterday afternoon while trimming trees on an extension ladder in his driveway, police said. The officer was working at his home on Whitman Road and was found by his fiancée, who called authorities, police said. He was taken to Kent Hospital in Warwick, where he died of his injuries, police said. Authorities said there are no signs of foul play, and they are withholding identification until family has been notified.
