Lieutenant Governor Timothy P. Murray was driving 100 miles per hour, without a seatbelt, and had probably fallen asleep behind the wheel in the moments before he totaled his state-owned car, according to a Massachusetts State Police investigation of the car’s “black box” data released today. The circumstances of the crash, and the tangled wreckage of the car, make it all the more remarkable that Murray emerged physically unscathed from the rollover. Murray will be ticketed for the Nov. 2 car accident, but will not face more significant charges.

An official claims the Murray accident (driver falling asleep, traveling 100 miles an hour is not "reckless driving." Good grief, if Murray's driving is not considered "reckless driving" - WHAT - is "reckless driving?"
Globe good job at ommitting the facts that he SAID he was NOT speeding and WAS wearing a seatbelt. Lemme guess Libs, he was on his way to cast a deciding vote at the state house and was on "Ambien" which would account for his speeding and sleeping................
The ticket they gave him is illegal. Tickets must be given to a violator at the time and place of the violation.

This was just a spectacular car crash and thankfully no one was hurt but Mr. Murray's career pretty much just crashed and burned. What is it with public figures like John Corzine and Tim Murray not wearing seatbelts? They must think the law does not apply to everyone, other than those they regulate.
You or I would have been fined 3x that and no one can deny it.
ktm123 CHAPTER 90C PROCEDURE FOR MOTOR VEHICLE OFFENSES Section 2 (g) states: A failure to give a copy of the citation to the violator at the time and place of the violation shall constitute a defense in any court proceeding for such violation, except where the violator could not have been stopped or where additional time was reasonably necessary to determine the nature of the violation or the identity of the violator, or where the court finds that a circumstance, not inconsistent with the purpose of this section to create a uniform, simplified and non-criminal method for disposing of automobile law violations, justifies the failure. In such case the violation shall be recorded upon a citation as soon as possible after such violation and the citation shall be delivered to the violator or mailed to him at his residential or mail address or to the address appearing on his license or registration as appearing in registry of motor vehicles records. Looks to me like they had the time.
You know this situation is different than the State Police are admitting. And the biggest question in my mind: is this hack de hacks getting to keep his license? And if so, why? At the very least he was guilty of driving to endanger, never mind the speeding rap. At 108 miles an hour, these state cops expect the public to believe that poor mr. murray merely dozed off because he was u p so early and went out so as to not wake his family? Yeah, right... Maybe he wasn't drunk. But he sure was way out over the speed lime ... say he was doing 90 and his foot pressed down on the accelerator to speed him up to 108. Are these cops asking the public to believe that hack de hacks Murray was cruising along at 65 while awake, and then jammed his foot on to the accelerator to rev up to 108? What a pailful of hoss hockeys... And his license... I repeat... what about his license... This lardbrain has a state trooper that chauffers him around like he's a big cheese, so he doesn't need a license for work... As for his off hours, let his wife or kid drive him... That's what would happen to me or any other non-connected human being... And when is Murray going before a judge? One state police captain tried to plead his case out a week or two ago and was told to hold his horses while the prosecutors decide what other charges he should face... How's about the same for Murray... send him to a court, make him face a judge and be as embarrassed as the rest of the general public... There is no reason this Worcester hack de hacks should get off just because he has an in with Deevalued Patrick... No reason what so ever... Smack him down so he's like the rest of us!!!
What would happen to any other state employee who destroyed a very expensive car while speeding or falling asleep at the wheel?
Another case of the rules not applying to the politically connected. Noah, thanks for keeping on this. I hope you'll be able to continue the investigative reporting on the this blatant disregard for the law and how a former trooper was given a pass on something that would have seriously screwed a regular guy.
So, the State Police LIED when they said that there was no need to release the contents of the "black box", since they had already determined the cause of the accident! Is anyone seriously surprised? And does anyone really believe that Murray fell asleep while driving after arising early in the morning to go and assess some storm damage? How about the much more likely scenario that he fell asleep while driving early in the morning after a long night of heavy ... (you get the picture)? It is almost insulting that they think that we, the public, are such idiots. And speaking of lying public servants, it has been a pretty bad couple of weeks for the Staties who serve and protect us. Let's see, we now know that they count amongst their exalted ranks: several liars, a couple of arrogant drunks, a seriously bad shot, and a bookmaker. Wow!
If Murray tried this story on his mother, she would spank him and wash his mouth out with soap. Anybody who believes this story is a nit wit. But he's a Democrat, and the press shall therefore stand down on any further inquiries.
