Small plane crashes near Fitchburg Municipal Airport

A single-engine plane crashed near the Fitchburg Municipal Airport today just before 9:45 a.m. State Police said that the operator, who was the only occupant of the plane, was transported to the UMass Memorial Medical Center in Leominster with minor injuries. No one else was hurt. The name of the pilot has not been released, and police said there was no property damage.
