Patrick to seek education funding boost

Budget plan to be unveiled

Governor Deval Patrick will seek an increase in education funding when he submits his budget proposal next week to the Legislature for the new fiscal year, he said last night. “It’s not a dramatic increase, but it’s an increase,’’ he told about 100 supporters at a private home in Roxbury. Patrick’s comments came one week after his administration signaled that fee and tax hikes could be necessary to help balance next year’s budget.
