Man accused of pistol-whipping store clerk arrested

Lawrence and State Police have captured a Lawrence man wanted on charges of pistol-whipping a store clerk on New Year’s Eve, authorities said today. Jesse Pena, 20, was arrested today around 11:15 a.m. during a raid on a third-floor apartment on Garden Street in Lawrence, State Police said. A .357-caliber handgun was found inside a child’s toy box in the apartment, according to State Police.
