Massport to test emergency lighting on Logan runway

There will be a lot of commotion and brilliant light on the water at the end of a Logan International Airport runway on Thursday evening, but don’t worry, it’s only a drill, airport officials said. The airport is conducting the drill to see how fast it can get portable lighting to an emergency area, in this case the water off of Runway 14, said Logan spokesman Phil Orlandella. “You’ll see a lot of light at the approach end of 14,” he said. The drill, which will involve Massport Fire Rescue, along with the Coast Guard, Boston Fire Department, and State Police, will be conducted on at 7 p.m.
