A homeless day center pushed by Occupy Providence as a condition of its departure from a public park downtown has opened. The center at Emmanuel House in south Providence began welcoming visitors yesterday. It is being run by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence and can accommodate between 35 and 50 people a day.
