Hyde Park man, 88, found at Canton golf course 12 hours after family reported him missing

An 88-year-old Hyde Park man was found in critical condition on a Canton golf course Sunday morning, more than 12 hours after family members reported him missing.

A local dog walker stumbled across the man lying on the ground near the cart maintenance shack at the Ponkapoag Golf Course. The dog walker, who feared the man had died, called police around 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

Canton police said the man was transported to Norwood Hospital in critical condition and was treated for hypothermia. Besides a few minor scratches, the man had no visible trauma, police said.

The man’s vehicle, a 2010 Honda Fit, was found nearby.

Police said he suffered from pre-existing medical conditions. His name was not released.
