Anonymous jury sought for R.I. mob case

Prosecutors cite potential threats

Federal prosecutors in Rhode Island want to seat an anonymous jury in the upcoming trial of Luigi “Louie’’ Manocchio, the reputed former boss of the New England mob, alleging his organization has the ability to intimidate prospective jurors in the high-profile case. The January 2011 arrest of Manocchio, 84, nicknamed Baby Shacks, The Old Man, and The Professor, was part of a sweep of mobsters and the nation’s largest crackdown on the Mafia. He is slated to go to trial in April.
