Harvard to restructure library system

Harvard University revealed its long-awaited plan for restructuring its academic library -- the world’s largest -- this morning, calling for “changes that affect staff at every level.” The changes are likely to include the consolidation of services and the reshuffling of many of the library’s 900-plus employees, at least some of whom will leave their jobs. The plan calls for systemwide policies on what materials are acquired and how students and scholars can retrieve them.
