The Esplanade - once one of the city’s crown jewels - hasn’t been that in many years. Many Bostonians, who mainly associate it with Independence Day, have barely noticed. But a group of volunteers has been working for two years on a plan to restore its greatness, and they released their vision this week. Their ideas shouldn’t be tossed in a drawer and forgotten, because the city needs the park the Esplanade could become.
