Charlie Gilbert is the oldest living member of four generations of fervent Red Sox fans. None has a history so interwoven with the team’s as Gilbert. Because on April 20, when the Red Sox commemorate the centennial of the first professional baseball game played in Fenway Park, Gilbert, will celebrate his 100th birthday. His family has picked out the perfect birthday present: They want the Red Sox to let Gilbert to throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
