Trucker rescued in Fall River crash

A fiery crash on a Fall River highway this morning injured a truck driver and may have damaged steel beams that support the roadway, State Police said. Luis Cotto, 42, of Taunton, lost control of his tractor truck about 6 a.m. as he traveled south on Route 79. The truck veered onto a curb, struck a guardrail, and slid into a construction site. Cotto was pulled 180 feet from the burning wreck by trooper Allyson Powell, who found him unconscious at the scene.
