Lexington woman receives brother’s missing Purple Heart

Air Force pilot had been killed in combat in ’51

A Massachusetts family has reclaimed a Purple Heart medal that a relative won for his Korean War service. Air Force First Lieutenant Thomas E. Hadley II was 22 when he died flying in a combat mission in 1951. He was from Michigan. One of his medals ended up in Pennsylvania. A city sanitation supervisor found it, and his grandson inherited it. He turned to The Military Order of the Purple Heart to help find the rightful owner.
