Two former senior executives at Quincy Medical Center who were fired after a for-profit company took over the hospital are asking a judge to order the company to pay them $600,000 in severance pay. Apurv Gupta, the former senior vice president for clinical affairs and chief medical officer, and Victor Munger, former senior vice president of human resources, filed claims as part of Quincy Medical Center’s bankruptcy case, which was initiated as part of the hospital’s sale to Steward Health Care. The $38 million sale was finalized last fall. In their complaints, Gupta and Munger say Steward said it would retain all employees, which induced them to continue working for Quincy Medical Center during the transition.
