Globe’s Davis awarded for sports photos

The Boston Globe’s Jim Davis was named one of the best sports photographers in the world yesterday by the Donald W. Reynolds Journalism Institute at the Missouri School of Journalism. A panel of judges awarded Davis with third place in the Sports Photographer of the Year category for the Pictures of the Year International competition. Davis said the award represents “recognition from your peers for your year’s worth of work,’’ something he appreciates in the competitive world of the press.
