Poll shows Scott Brown leads Elizabeth Warren by 5 points

Republican US Senator Scott Brown holds a narrow 5-percentage-point lead over Democratic challenger Elizabeth Warren, according to a Rasmussen Reports poll released today.

The poll of 500 likely voters was taken Wednesday night using automated phone calls, in which respondents are asked their preferences by a digitally reported voice.

The poll showed Brown leading Warren 49 percent to 44 percent, with a margin of error of plus or minus 4.5 percentage points.

A slew of opinion polls have been released in recent weeks, some showing Brown with a wider lead, others showing Warren ahead. Pollsters say their surveys reflect a moment in time, noting that voter opinions are subject to change. They also use differing methodologies.
