Lantigua’s fund-raising brings inquiry by AG

Lawrence mayor denies illegal aims

State regulators have found evidence that Lawrence Mayor William Lantigua and eight of his supporters have engaged in widespread campaign law violations, including accepting illegal contributions, failing to file accurate campaign reports, and using city employees to solicit money. Attorney General Martha Coakley already has opened a criminal investigation into the controversial mayor’s conduct at the request of the Office of campaign and Political Finance.
