Infant found atop loaded gun in Lynn raid

Officers were alarmed by drug search discovery

Lynn police executing a search warrant on Friday found not only cocaine, pills, and drug paraphernalia, but also an infant child sitting on a fully loaded handgun. Officers found “a six-month-old baby sitting on a mattress. Underneath the mattress was a .357 handgun, fully loaded,’’ Lieutenant Christopher Kelly said. The child’s 33-year-old mother was in the Arlington Street apartment, though she did not live there, Kelly said. He said police left the child in the mother’s care but immediately filed a report with the Department of Children and Families.
