For mothers of the accused, a separate anguish

Emotions of victims’ families always in mind

The mothers of the two men accused of perpetrating one of the worst homicides in the city’s recent history have come to court almost every day, where they have watched a prosecutor accuse their sons of killing four people, including a mother and a two-year-old boy. Both men face murder charges, but for the mother of Dwayne Moore, the pain is compounded by the accusation that her son was the one who pulled the trigger.

One brite light in all this horror is that kindness comes from the strangest places. It's nice to know that there are true Christians who can forgive and understand someone else's pain. This poor woman should not be blamed for what her son did. I will pray for them all, living and dead.

She failed as a mother. Is it so hard to teach respect for life? Right from wrong?

Phenomenal story revealing glimmers of humanity among these women on both sides. Where do they get the strength to rise above this awful circumstance and see the light in each other? Great story.

Diann didn't fail as a mother. Her son, if he is guilty, exercised his free will. The best mothers in the world cannot prevent their children from making bad decisions. I'm so impressed by the Christian women who have chosen to reach out to the mothers of the accused. What a great example of Christ's love for ALL people.

Would the Globe have run the same sensationalist stories about Al Capone's murders, or other alcohol prohibition violence? Marijuana Prohibition caused this violence. These parents don't have a chance. How many poor kids do we really expect to resist the lure of a job that pays thousands per week? Consider that marijuana has never killed anyone through overdose or long-term use. Recent studies have proven that it does not increase the odds of head, neck, or lung cancer. Alcohol and Tobacco-related illness kill about 100,000 and 400,000 Americans per year. WHY do we have these terrible marijuana laws? In Holland, where marijuana is legal and regulated, there are no marijuana-related robberies or murders. The rate of marijuana use among both youth and adults is lower than the US!! Holland has many African immigrants, yet no violent-crime ridden inner cities. They have less than 1/10nth the percentage of people in prison we do. We are sleeping in the bed we made with these laws. As is the Boston Globe, which consistently editorializes against any reforms to criminal marijuana prohibition.
