Education aid amendment stalled in N.H. Legislature

With a 3-1 margin of Republicans in the House, GOP Speaker William O’Brien said Friday he still does not have enough votes to pass a constitutional amendment to shift control over education aid to lawmakers without Democratic support. O’Brien told reporters he doesn’t have the 239 votes in his caucus needed for an amendment that also would be acceptable to the Senate. There are 293 Republicans to 104 Democrats in the House.
