Urgent care center trend growing in Eastern Mass.

Trend viewed as way to ease strain on ERs

With health care costs climbing and emergency rooms more crowded than ever, one response that has been popular nationally is spreading to Eastern Massachusetts: urgent care centers. A national company said it will open 19 urgent care centers in Eastern Massachusetts by the end of 2014 - the first is scheduled to open May 24 in Braintree - following the success of its first two centers in Springfield.
